British Airways increases fuel surcharge

Long haul passengers on British Airways face an increase in the cost of their tickets after the airline announced an increase in its fuel surcharge.

BA ha said that passengers will face an additional £5 for each long haul flight of less than nine hours, increasing the price of a single journey from £48 to £53.

While those people traveling on journeys of more than nine hours will have to pay £128 for a return flight, after a £6 increase on single tickets from £58 to £64.

The increases will come into effect on tickets booked from February 25, BA said there would be no change to the short-haul surcharge, which will remain at £20 for a return flight.

Yesterday British Airways was highlighted as one of the worst performing airlines in Europe when it comes to baggage delays, and also came to an agreement with Virgin Atlantic to pay compensation to passengers after the pair were accused of colluding on the price-fixing of fuel surcharges.
